In a world seemingly full of rules and regulations that threaten to drown you in a world of routine tasks performed day in and day out, here’re some reasons why you should do what you love.
1. Pick your battles
The common euphemism goes, ‘In a rat race, even if you win, you’re still a rat’. But despite hearing multiple such warnings, according to a survey by Forbes 92% of the people in the world end up hating what they do. We follow the herd, get caught up in routines and quick fixes for life, which when you compare to the big picture of what you wanted your life to be, ends up looking nothing like it. Step back and take a look at the big picture that’s your life and then pick the course your life should take going forward.
2. The law of attraction
When you truly have a dream and are willing to put in the time and effort to make it come true, you will tend attract the right people and resources who will help you bring the dream to realization. On the other hand if you get into a career path that you do not really want to, and one that makes you hate going to work every single day, you’re setting yourself up for an inevitable fall because you would attract things that simply make you hate your job more. The solution? Do what you love, and love what you do.
3. Right Foundation
Due to peer pressure or information provided by people who do not have the right set of knowledge of a particular field we tend to get into a herd mentality wherein we rush into join courses, opt for jobs, and basically build our entire life on an opinion without a sound foundation. When you do what you love, curiosity and love towards your work drives you to know more about it, you network and talk to people working in the same area of interest, and make an educated choice about what you want to do when you grow up, which is the right foundation for a great future for you.
4. Time is ticking
We keep putting off things we love to do for a variety of reasons. We tell ourselves we’ll do it once I get to tenth grade, when I finish college, once I have earned enough, once I’m settled, so on and so forth. That ‘some time’ hardly, if ever materializes. When you invest time doing what you love, building on it constantly and excelling in it, you will find that everything else starts falling into place including the elusive time. Don’t wait for the right time to come, create it starting today.
5. You Love Mondays
Doing what you love will have you looking forward to the start of each week with a huge smile on your face. Your weeks start on a great note, you feel that you are contributing true value and have personal satisfaction. And thus, you would love your Mondays and steer clear of the 92% of the people in the world who according to Forbes magazine hate what they do.
Because you already know the secret to Loving Mondays – do what you Love!
